East Side Intermediate Holds Lock Down Drill
As part of the Palacios school district’s continuing commitment to ensuring students and staff are prepared to quickly make their way to safety in the event of an emergency situation, East Side Intermediate conducted an unannounced lockdown drill at 8:50a.m. on Friday, September 13th. State regulations require that school districts hold these drills to practice their ability to secure school buildings and grounds in the event of a threatening incident in or around the building. Students and staff are instructed to clear hallways, lock doors and take positions out of sight until law enforcement can arrive (or, in this case, school administrators release them). The drill lasted approximately 11 minutes. The drill was a collaboration between the PISD Police, PISD administrators, Palacios Police Department, Matagorda County Sheriff's Department, and Tx Game Wardens Association.
