Parent Involvement Policy

Statement of Purpose: Palacios ISD is committed to providing quality education for every student in our district. Palacios ISD believes that it takes a collaborative effort among parents, school and community to ensure the success of every student. 

Parents play an important role as the children’s first teachers, and their support for their children and for the school is critical to promote high achievement. Palacios ISD intends to include parents in all aspects of the district’s programs, with the goal of a home-school partnership that will help all students in the district succeed.

Parental Involvement in Developing the Policy: Palacios ISD District Education Improvement Committee (DEIC), consisting of parents, teachers, and community members, meets to develop the school district’s Parent Involvement Policy. The Parent Involvement Policy will be revised annually by the DEIC. It will be updated to reflect the changing needs of students, parents, and the school.


Central Elementary

Parent Involvement Policy

School-Parent Compacts: In accordance with Title I regulations, each campus shall develop jointly with, and make available to, parents of participating children a school-parent compact that is designed to increase the sharing of responsibility between families and schools for the high performance of students. Parent, teachers, and administrators who will be responsible for carrying out the compact should participate in its development.

Parents should discuss the compact with their child and sign. Every parent shall receive a copy of the school-parent compact from the campus his/her child is attending. The school-parent compacts will be available in both English and Spanish.

Parent Involvement on the Campus: In order to ensure the participation of parents and strengthen their role in the education of their child, the following will be available:

  1. Central Elementary will provide training opportunities for parents, and will be offered at times of parent availability and will be sensitive to the language needs of parents.
  2. Central Elementary will provide opportunities for parents to volunteer at varied school functions.
  3. Central Elementary will provide opportunities for leadership training in order that parents may share in the process of decision-making, reviewing and amending campus goals. This will be provided through the Campus Improvement Team.

East Side Intermediate
