Students Enjoy Camp Read A Lot
Mrs. Zamarripa’s 2nd grade class celebrated Dr. Seuss’ Read Across America by transforming their classroom into Camp Read A Lot. They learned how to use recycled sheets to build tents and paper for fire and other camp necessities. Night time animal sounds and the crackling sound of a real fire from a video (Thankful for the technology!) aid in making it feel just like the outdoors. After the campsite was completed, students had a blast reading “under the stars” using their flashlights. They also had a friendly competition to see how many books each was able to read during their time at camp. They ended camp with a S’mores Making Party! This was a phenomenal way to increase students’ interest in reading and motivate them to read more.
